Mick's Mix is a special blend of blue-black dye for Natural Swimming Pool/Ponds (NSP's), from the experts at Total Habitat! We specially mix this NEW highly concentrated powdered dye in-house in order to give the treated NSP a truly natural-look (not too black and definitely not theme-park-blue). Use this dye in your NSP to help fend off algae as your biological filter is maturing or early in the spring when you first open your pool/pond. Sprinkle the dye in the water to darken it slightly, which blocks the sun's rays making it harder for algae to grow and spread. This non-toxic dye won't stain swimmers' skin or clothing and is safe to use with fish, pets & wildlife.
We recommend that you get enough dye to treat your NSP for at least its first swimming season (2-3 months). A 1/2 Tablespoon of this super concentrated dye treats 50,000 gallons, which means just one 4oz jar can treat a 50,000 gallon NSP a whopping sixteen times (i.e. Essential NSP: Round & Essential NSP: Oval Plans)! Dosage rates will vary from NSP to NSP depending on rainfall and water movement amounts.
Use this formula to calculate gallons:
NSP Length x Width x Average Depth= Total Gallons
Dosage Amounts:
1/2 tsp = 15,000 Gallons (48 Treatments in one 4oz Jar)
1 tsp = 30,000 Gallons (24 Treatments in one 4oz Jar)
1/2 Tbsp = 50,000 Gallons (16 Treatments in one 4oz Jar)
1 Tbsp = 100,000 Gallons (8 Treatments in one 4oz Jar)
What You'll Need:
A measuring spoon and gloves (concentrated dye can stain hands or clothes)
When You're Done:
Please rinse and recycle this glass jar and lid
