Interns will work alongside our design staff on a variety of projects and tasks ranging from product/exhibit design to graphic design/marketing and even filmography! Responsibilities vary depending on the project, but could include:
- creating 2D and 3D drawings in programs such as CAD/Vectorworks/VR
- conducting design/user research
- creating written reports/visual presentations
- sketching/iterating ideas
- fabricating/prototyping in our workshop
Qualifications
- Applicant must be seeking a degree in design and have completed their Junior or Senior year (ex: Industrial, Product, Graphic, Interior, Exhibit Design or similar)
- Applicant must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Applicant must be flexible, have a positive attitude and be willing to learn

Fabrication Team Member
We are currently looking for talented fabricators to join our traveling construction teams. We work all over the USA, so the ability to travel for projects (all expenses paid) is a must. This position is ideal for creative individuals who enjoy working out of doors and who don't mind physical labor. Experience the sense of accomplishment that comes with seeing a project built from start to finish and knowing that it will be enjoyed for years to come!

Position Involves
- Construction of water features, zoo exhibits, and other outdoor spaces
- Creation of physical models and prototypes based on designers' specifications
- Operation of heavy and specialty equipment including a track loader, excavator, concrete pump, trencher, compactor
- Work with a small fabrication team onsite to take a project from construction drawings through completion
- Perform routine maintenance on water features and equipment
- Build and sculpt artificial boulders
- Move and artfully place large rocks and create waterfalls/streams/infinity edges
- Travel to construction sites across the United States, as needed, to build our custom-designed exhibits/spaces (typical time out of town is 3-6 weeks at a time). All travel expenses and transportation provided: You will be given a daily allowance for food when out of town
Applicant Requirements
- Construction experience is preferred but a good attitude is a MUST (we can provide onsite equipment and tool training)
- Must live in Kansas City, KS or within commuting distance
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be flexible (weather delays happen, construction dates change)
- Must be a self-starter
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting at $18.00/hr for training and trial period, with pay increases based on experience and performance
- Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits (after training and trial period)
- All expenses paid travel for projects all over the USA
